As for me, things have been going pretty okay lately, the other night I got to go to an Emmy party at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, where we (CBS Mobile) received our official Emmy nomination for outstanding creative achievement in interactive television.
It’s kind of a big deal for me but at the same time I’m pretty sure Current TV is gonna walk away with the award, from an innovation standpoint they deserve it. Also they were co-founded by Al Gore.
The Wired Nextfest is just around the corner (Sept 14-16th) for anybody that want’s to go nerd the fuck out with me. It’s gonna be held at the LA convention center and is only $20 buck to enter, plus you’ll get a free mag subscription with purchase of your ticket.
They’re gonna have over 160 booths covering all things future-esk, including the awesome HUBO.
Enough about me let's talk about Me-dia.
There’s a lot really cool stuff coming down the pipeline in the coming months for all us Media geeks out there, let's take a look.
• Serial Killer Vigilante
Dexter is coming back for it’s 2nd Season, and if I haven’t burned you a catch-up copy of the first season yet, get down to Best Buy. Season one just came out Aug 21st, and it’s totally worth the $30 buck it’s gonna cost ya.
And if you’re already a big fan of the show you can watch the first two leaked episodes from the upcoming season two at watchtvsitcoms.com.
• Don’t Fear the Reaper
If you’re a Kevin Smith fan, “Reaper”, a new show coming out on the CW this fall (I know it’s CW but give it a shot, it’s worth it, I swear) about a kid who’s forced to become the Devil’s (Ray Wise, Leland Palmer from Twin Peaks fame) personal bounty hunter of escaped demons. Although Smith directed the pilot don’t expect much more participation from him on this one because he and the CW had a sort of falling out and he’s not expected to contribute after the initial episode.
• She's Dead...Wrapped in Plastic.
Speaking of Twin Peaks, I just found this Definitive Gold Box Edition that contains both Seasons 1 & 2 as well as the original Pilot. Not bad. If you haven’t seen this series in its entirety, now’s as good as time as any to find out what the hell people are talking about when you hear them say "How's Annie?", Or you just watch the final moments of the entire series right now.
SPOILER ALERT Seriously, this is that last 30 seconds of the entire Twin Peaks Series.
• FtotheOtotheTtotheC
It’s no small secret that I’ve been touting Flight of the Conchords as by far the funniest show on TV (well, HBO anyways), after all I’ve been selling them to just about everybody ever since they appeared on the Late Late show over a year ago, I’ve also got their song "Think Think About" It as my ringtone, well the good news is they just got picked up for a second season. The season finale was last Sunday, so now you can catch all the reruns periodically on HBO.
