FIREFLY
Comple
tely Overlooked and UnderratedIf you haven’t seen/heard of this series before it’s totally understandable as well as it’s a complete shame (Only 11 out of 14 episodes were air before the dicks over at FOX pulled the plug). After watching the Pilot (the Official Pilot not the FOX Pilot, they aired them in a completely fucked up order)
I was completely hooked.
It’s basically a
Cowboys-in-Space-Sci-Fi-Dramedy set 500 years in the future. If your into Sci-Fi AT ALL, I suggest you either have me burn you a copy or else go pick it up over at Amoeba for 20 bones like I did.

The Brown Coats May Rise Again
Continuing in the Firefly universe, I just found an article posted today that suggests that their maybe a Sequel to Serenity (Firefly Movie) in the works. Alan Tudyk, who played Wash in the Series, or more recently Doc Potter in 3:10 to Yuma, just hinted that the Collectors Edition DVD of Firefly has been selling so well that it’s spurred some talks about revisiting the Firefly universe.Full page here
If that’s not cool enough, a new graphic novel is supposed to be released sometime this year and perhaps as soon as the first quarter in 2008 they’re supposed to be releasing a MMORPG that takes place in the Firefly universe as well.
Shiny indeed.
Redefining Beauty
A Campaign You Won’t Wash Your Hands Of
As part of Dove’s ongoing Campaign for Real Beauty, they just released a new short film to companion its previous award winning "Evolution" short.
"Onslaught"
"Evolution"
I loved the their first one, Evolution, because it shows how, through programs like Photoshop, its relatively easy to completely fuck up peoples perspective of what "real" or "normal" is.
Plus I think it’s really awesome that they’re trying to making the whole thing a real social issue, at the end of the short it says
“Talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does”
totally reminisent of anti-drug campaign. Brilliant.
